Between 2004 and 2009, I made 5 visits to the US. I stayed with friends across the Midwest, studied in St. Louis, Missouri for a year, and travelled back and forth across country by train. I took photos on 35mm film on each of these trips, either on an old point and shoot my Dad had given me, or on a more serious Voigtlander rangefinder later on. I had these films developed and printed and, over the years, gradually mislaid or lost the negatives. In 2022, I found a box of these 6x4 prints and used Google's PhotoScan app to digitise them. The process was quick and easy, and every blemish or speck of dust on the print is preserved in the scans. For me, these imperfections capture the feel of those trips to me now, 15 years on. They are an imperfect and very subjective view of the US through my eyes.
